New Gambling Guidance to Licensing Authorities

The Gambling Commission has published its 5th edition of Guidance to licensing authorities. A link to the Commission's website notification can be found here. The document states the importance of partnership working between licensing authorities and operators.

This document also  provides further guidance on the requirement for operators to understand risks associated with the areas where they have "or wish to have " premises. This to be demonstrated by operators conducting a risk assessment to cover these matters.

The requirement comes into force in April next year, thus giving operators time to review their own risk assessments and address these issues as appropriate, with the matters to be set out in revised licence policy statements by licensing authorities  in January 2015
